The Edo period, 1603-1868, Tetsu-Ji, This tsuba is made of iron. Well tempered
Mokko-Gata, it is shaped like a Japanese quince.
Takabori, the Ume flowers, brushwood fence and rock are expressed in high-relief carving.
Iroe, ume flowers are also expressed in Iroe technique. Iroe is highly advanced inlay technique.
Braze very thin golden sheet on a material; Zogan, it is inlaid with copper.
So, we call this"Tetsu-Ji Mokko-Gata Takabori Iroe Zogan Tsuba" in Japanese. It is slightly rusty.
The color of this tsuba is tasteful as it is forged and tempered well.

in Japanese. It is slightly rusty.
a few slight golden dots can be recognized on this Tsuba. So, it must have been inlaid with gold
Though, most of the inlay is peeled off now.
This Tsuba was made by someone of the Shoami school.
